The Hotel Committee act as liaisons, following up on hotel complaints to the company, union and/or corporate security as needed.  In addition, they provide input to Corporate Travel regarding hotels bidding for our business.  The following is a brief list of some of their activities:

The Hotel Committee along with representatives of Flight Ops., meet with the Company as needed to discuss hotel complaints, compliments and upcoming changes.  They bring out and address any issues that may affect F/A's and present our viewpoints based on feedback from other F/A's.

When possible they go on hotel inspections and point out numerous issues and how they could positively or negatively affect F/A's if we were to overnight there.  They make reports at the Local Lodge meeting with information about hotel complaints and any findings made by the Company plus future hotel changes.

HNL Hotel Construction Advisory

HNL Hotel Construction Advisory:  Beginning on June 1, for the next five weeks, emergency work to remove the trellises above the 3rd floor deck has been scheduled.  Contractors will work from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The first phase of the project will entail installation of barricades and scaffolding, which will cause some sporadic noise.  The second phase will include demolition of the Ewa trellis (from June 10-18) and Diamond Head trellis (from June 18-25); jack hammering and use of power equipment will be required during this phase.  The third and final phase will include dismantling and removal of the scaffolding and barricades, which again will bring about some sporadic noise.

The pool and pool bar will be open during normal business hours.

Management has assured us that crewmembers will be given priority for rooms away from the noise. If you have any issues during your stay, please contact Operational Performance.

IAMAW Hotel Committee Report

June - Continental Airlines

Our hotels will remain the same for Rio De Janeiro, NY La Guardia, Panama and Quito for all layovers.

  • We have been at all of these hotels for many years and have had good relationships with them.  We will enjoy the same amenities that we have had in the past. The RIO hotel will now give us internet access in the rooms.

Upcomming Inspections:

  • LHR long layover: Corporate travel is currently reviewing the bids and going for inspections at the end of June for a long term downtown hotel.
  • LAS hotel inspections will be in July for the long and short layovers. The market is soft so we are hoping for some good results. I do not have the list of prospective hotels but I understand they are nicer than many options we have had in the past.

Complaints

  • EWR (short): had slow internet connections. The internet provider was contacted and the situation has been corrected. If not please, call OPS performance. Also reports of bed bugs, Hotel reported the suspect rooms have been treated and certified as being clean of bugs.
  • HKG The hotel was doing renovations so we were moved on their suggestion to a different hotel but that one was substandard so we have returned to our previous hotel. They are still renovating but it is the soft things not construction work.
  • LAS- Short: internet and location seem the biggest issues.  Long: Cleanliness, location and safety issues (we will not be staying there in the future).
  • LHR- Waiting for rooms and noise in the halls due to kids.
  • SJU- no room for the 4th F/A - CAL dropped the ball on that. No wake up calls - situation has been addressed.
  • TLV- Crews hate new location and say it is noisy.  However, the old hotel, Hotel David International, did not want our business anymore and failed the hotel inspection, so we had to move. New hotel is nice but not near the beach so the crews don’t like it as much. Also had internet issues of time limits, but that has been worked out and corrected.

How is the transportation in AUStin? No calls to OPS performance.

This meeting was attended by the corporate travel staff, an Ops performance representative, 5 pilot representatives, inflight supervisor, Susan Vice and me on June 8, 2010.

The next hotel meeting will be held downtown on July 27, 2010.
